mini50 records was started because I want to help others. I know what it’s like to be a recording artists with little money to put into the process of recording, producing and releasing music. I also know how nice it feels to have a home from which to release your music. Wiseblood Industries run by Adam Stafford of Y’all Is Fantasy Island has provided the Kays with this sense of place. Somewhere to rest our weary heads at the end of a long musical day. And the aim of mini50 is to replicate that approach. Providing our artists with a label from which to release their music and hopefully helping them fund their projects too. Or at least contributing. The aim is to help promote these bands as well and hopefully through the contacts I’ve made through the Kays, Trampoline and the blog I will be able to help these artists spread their music far and wide. That’s the idea anyways. Russell Kostulin, better known as Mammoeth and in his spare time the violinist of the Kays Lavelle is the other half of mini50. His debut record under the moniker Mammoeth is due for release in 2010 on mini50 along with a ‘best of trampoline’ record and a ‘trampoline live’ cd. It’s just the beginning. We’re talking to others. Taking very tentative steps, but very serious about the aims of the label and determined to succeed in getting the best new music out there and giving those artists a place to call home.
